Burgers in the laneway

The Grill'd Airstream was out and about again yesterday. This time we teamed up with the amazing people behind the Salvation Army Life Centre in the Melbourne CBD and fired up the Grill'd Airstream for those in need.


We caught up with Alexis from the Salvation Army team recently to learn more about the great work they are doing with the Life Centre, which is a community centre in the heart of Melbourne's CBD that provides support (spiritual, physical, emotional and social) to people from all walks of life, especially those who live on the very margins of our society. Alexis explained how the Life Centre provides meals, crisis intervention and practical support to assist people in their everyday living.


After our catch up we thought it would be great if we could help out in some small way by backing up the Grill'd Airstream and sharing the burger love. So that?s exactly what we did. After some swift maneuvering of the Grill'd Airstream into the back streets of Melbourne we managed to serve up lunch for those who rely on the Life Centre. We're pleased to say our burgers went down a treat.

Hawthorn gets first taste of the Grill'd Airstream

Yesterday we fired up the Grill'd Airstream in the car park behind Grill'd Hawthorn and delivered our burgers to the people. With Grill'd Hawthorn receiving the finishing touches to a refurb, the Grill'd Airstream delivered our healthy burgers to a crowd of locals that had been in burger withdrawal for the last few weeks.

To add to the local vibe we teamed up with the great people behind local charity group, the Hawthorn Community Chest, and have donated all proceeds from the sale of burgers to their fundraising program that supports a whole range of local community initiatives. With a solid turn-out checking out the Grill'd Airstream on its inaugural mission we managed to raise some decent dollars for a great cause.

Introducing the Grill'd Airstream ? Bringing burgers to the people!

It's been a while in the making, but today we'd like to introduce you to our new shiny toy ? the Grill'd Airstream. A thing of sheer beauty, the Grill'd Airstream is our unique take on the traditional burger van.

Having spent our fair share of (mostly) sunny days at festivals, concerts and the like, we realised it was hard to find a decent meal , let alone a burger, at these events. Enter the Grill'd Airstream.

So we've custom-fitted an Airstream caravan , with the plan to take our burgers to the people. Most importantly, we won't be compromising on the quality of our burgers just because it's coming from a van. We?ll still be using the highest quality, freshest ingredients to make our burgers the old-fashioned way. Think of the Grill'd Airstream as a Grill'd restaurant on wheels!

We've got big things planned for the Grill'd Airstream this summer (watch this space). Expect to see us out and about all over the place ? festivals, concerts, you name it. Wherever there's fun, and the need for a decent burger, we plan to be there. Don't be afraid to let us know on our Facebook page where you'd like to see the Airstream appear this summer.

In the meantime, to celebrate the arrival of our newest addition to the Grill'd family we are taking it back to where it all began for Grill'd ? Hawthorn, Victoria

Those local to Hawthorn would know that Grill'd Hawthorn has been closed the last little while for a refurb. The good news is we?ll be re-opening the doors this Friday 24 September. To help celebrate the re-opening of Grill'd Hawthorn we?re giving those in the hood the chance to be one of the first to check out the Grill'd Airstream, and help a local cause along the way.

This Thursday 23 September, between 12pm and 2pm we?re firing up the Airstream and selling our burgers for only $5 with all proceeds going directly to the Hawthorn Community Chest, which raises and distributes funds to charitable organisations in the local community.

So come and say hi this Thursday and grab a burger. You'll find the Grill'd Airstream in the Liddiard St car park, just behind Grill'd Hawthorn off Glenferrie Rd. Just look for the big shiny burger van ? you can't miss it.

And if you can't make it, don?t worry. The Grill'd Airstream will hopefully find you soon.
