There are many Australians who live their lives on the street every day, leaving them exposed to constant uncertainty.

St Vincent de Paul Society is an organization that raises their hand to help those in need. The group provides unfailing support for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. St Vincent de Paul Society also supports those living with mental health issues and experiencing crisis.

This amazing organization runs events annually within the ACT, which are estimated to cost around $1.5 million in order to continue operating. Additionally, the St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn operate a 12 bed men’s shelter in Hackett.

In September of 2015, Grill’d Woden were lucky enough to partner with St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn. They were featured on the Local Matters jars throughout the month of September in an effort to gage support and awareness for their door knock appeal, which hoped to raise $300,000. It was during this time that the group won the prize of second place and were given $100.

It was through the participation of St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn in Local Matters at Grill’d Woden that the staff were able to learn more about the plight of homelessness. Additionally, some members of the Grill’d team donated clothes and furniture to St Vincent de Paul in order to further support them.
