Those who can do, can also teach

Those who say, ‘if you can’t do, teach’, have obviously never watched us cook up a storm and host a Grill’d masterclass at the same time.

This January, our Melbourne Central team held a burger cooking masterclass for the kids involved with Doxa’s City Camp. The kids got to prepare and enjoy their own Simply Grill’d burgers, yum!

Many young Victorians experiencing disadvantage don’t have access to the same opportunities their peers receive. Luckily there are awesome organisations such as Doxa who are fighting tooth and nail to bridge the divide.

Doxa provide programs for young people to provide them access to positive life experiences, education opportunities and employment pathways. Their City Camp Program offers young people from rural and regional areas the opportunity to experience inner city life, team building activities, personal challenges and eye-opening moments.

The team at Grill’d Melbourne Central have created a long-standing relationship with the staff at Doxa, they even see them every Thursday night for a regular booking. The group have also been involved with our Local Matters program on numerous occasions over the years, most recently part of our Local Matters CBD program in November last year.

Within our CBD areas we have a slightly different structure, instead of featuring on one jar in one restaurant, the seven CBD restaurants in Melbourne (Flinders Lane, QV, Melbourne Central, Southern Cross, Southgate, Little Bourke St and Degraves St) feature the same three groups allowing for a larger donation. We were stoked to be able to provide a $700 donation to Doxa in November. The Melbourne CBD Grill’d peeps always have a blast with the group and love lending a hand

Be sure to pop in to your local Grill'd soon and buy a burger to support your local community, you won’t regret it.
